#338. 12-07-06 LA CA: 2353 hrs. I think I got talked into being a presenter at the Spirit Awards again this coming February. It’s an IFC thing and since my show is on IFC, they asked me to go to the event this year. I didn’t want to but I wanted to be cool and it’s not like they ask much of me and they are really cool people so I said ok. Then they asked me to present an award and I really didn’t want to but somehow I let myself say yes, again, wanting to play ball. I ended up presenting the award with Rosie Perez for best documentary which was won by The Smartest Guys In The Room, an amazing bit of work. Rosie was very nice but it’s not like we know each other and we went there and did it. I went out on that stage and could barely get my voice out of my throat. It felt so fuckin’ lame to be up there. Management called today and said they want me to be at the thing again, present again, etc. I said I didn’t want to so they offered me the chance to give David Lynch a lifetime achievement award. I caved in, in an effort to be cool and to get it off my back. Have I mentioned Heidi lately? No? Ok, the Heidi section: She wasn’t at the office today so all was quiet and serene. She will be back tomorrow, in all her bristling fury. Today is Pearl Harbor Day.
