STRAIGHT FROM HENRY

July 2006
Hello all. I wanted to get this out to you sooner than later. The final round of band practice and pre-tour madness starts in a day or so and things will be getting a little rushed around here.

Radio Show: As some of you know, I have a radio show in Indie 103 here in Los Angeles called Harmony In My Head. I am on from 8 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday nights PST. As I will be away for a little while, I have put together some really cool shows that I wanted you to be aware of so you could check them out if you wanted to. Here’s a brief rundown of the broadcasts to be:

Broadcast #31 Air Date: 08-01-06: We will start with an hour of nothing but Miles Davis. We will listen to several recordings in chronological order but mainly focused on his late sixties to mid-seventies recordings. From there the show swings into its more familiar format of all kinds of music until the end of the show.

Broadcast #32 Air Date: 08-08-06: The first half of the show is dedicated to on of the many great Austin TX musicians. Tonight it’s Roky Erickson. From there we will play The Cramps Gravest Hits EP from start to finish and go on from there.

Broadcast #33 Air Date: 08-15-06: This is going to be a great one. I will be playing in Washington DC on this night and so the entire show will be nothing but DC area bands. There will be some fairly hard to find songs on the show as well as some that have never been played on the radio. This is one to check out.

Broadcast #34 Air Date: 08-22-06: This will be a monster show. We will listen to 25 Misfits songs. That’s right, 25 tracks by The Misfits. We will profile the very hard to find 12 Hits From Hell album that was pulled days before being shipped to stores. We will be a-b’ing the original mixes of the album tracks against the mixes that made 12 Hits. We will play the original mix and then go straight into the 12 Hits mix so you can decide which one you like better. Some of this might be hard to follow so we will be posting the notes for the show Tuesday morning, hours before broadcast time so you can download them or have the page open if you are listening online and follow along. This is going to be a really cool broadcast. I have been working on this one for weeks. Please check it out if you can.

Broadcast #35 Air Date: 08-29-06: We have a great mix for this evening’s show. Nothing conceptual like the previous broadcasts. I think there’s only so many of those in a row you will be able to stand! This is a good one.

I will do my best to get the notes for the show up on the Harmony In My Head site either Monday or Tuesdays before the broadcast so you can see what’s coming. That site address is http://www.harmonyinmyhead.com/ easy enough. If you want to listen online, the address for that is: http://www.indie1031.fm/listenlive.php

Upcoming Tour: We are heading out soon as many of you know. For those of you that we’re not getting to on this run, I am sorry. To our European friends who are writing in: we have no tour plans beyond these dates coming. This tour will be the litmus test to determine if we want to go on and do more shows and possibly work on new music. As much as I would like to head right to Europe and all points beyond, it’s not going to happen just yet. Hopefully by September or so, we’ll all know a bit more than we do know about how it is amongst the five of us. At the moment, it’s feeling and sounding really good and I would like nothing more than to play and record and tour until the wheels come off but I am only 20% of this outfit so we’re going to have to wait and see. I do appreciate your letters and interest though, thanks.
We are the middle slot of a three band bill on this tour and have been allotted a one hour set. I have never heard The Riverboat Gamblers, who are opening the show but people at the radio station say they’re great and the headliners, X are X—you know they’re going to be great. Should be a good tour. I hope you show up.

Thanks for reading this.
